Enhancing Education

The Center for Educational and Training Technology (CETT) had its origins in 1996 as a self-funded university-level center to provide for the development and implementation of innovative instructional technologies and professional development focused at enhancing teaching and learning at all educational levels. During that time, CETT gained a national reputation through its work in the areas of technology training and integration, assessment, and science and math education. In 2014, CETT became a private LLC operating out of Atlanta, GA.

CETT plays a major leadership role in increasing the science, math, and technology knowledge and skills of tomorrow’s workforce by improving the teaching and learning experiences within the K-12 environment through implementing professional development and developing online learning and assessments for K-12 teachers, state and governmental personnel and clientele and the general public. CETT’s goal of enhancing K-12 teachers’ content knowledge and instructional strategies to increase student achievement continues in its development of Sample Instructional Strategies, 2010 Mississippi Science Framework.

The strategies are designed to give science teachers ideas for addressing the framework objectives. They are not meant to supersede textbooks, pacing guides, or other resources, or be the only strategies utilized in teaching the objectives. To facilitate lesson plan development, the CETT has created a quick lesson planning resource that includes Performance Level Descriptors and references to the Test Blueprints.

CETT accomplishes its goals and objectives through the efforts of the two divisions within its offices located in the Atlanta, Georgia metro region. The Professional Development Group is responsible for all professional development projects and outreach efforts with K-12 teachers and students. The Multimedia Development Group (MDG) has a primary goal of developing interactive web-based applications for educational purposes. It helps to develop a variety of instructional technology products delivered on multiple venues that have incorporated 2D and 3D animation and modeling, interactive HTML5 web objects, professional quality audio and video, as well as an array of graphics, illustrations, and photographs. Products that revolve around this diverse range of media often dictate their delivery method. Capabilities for delivery are limited only by emerging technologies.
